Welcome!

The Flint Concert Band was founded in 1948 by Garret Ebmeyer and several other local musicians.  Mr. Ebmeyer was an excellent trumpet player, music teacher, public school band director, and a school administrator.  He became the first conductor of the Flint Concert Band and we performed our first concert in 1949.

The Flint Concert Band performed concerts to large audiences in the Flint Central High School auditorium for 20 years.  Mr Ebmeyer conducted the Flint Concert Band until 1974.  He returned for the 1980 season until his death in 1981.

The Flint Concert Band’s other conductors have included Frank Tamburrino,  Barry Wentz, Ken Duquaine,  Mel Keranen, and for the past few years,  Bruce Nieuwenhuis.

The Flint Concert Band plays about six or seven concerts each season.  We have played many times at Whiting Auditorium, civic affairs and celebrations for the City of Flint, many local schools, churches, and many senior citizen complexes.

The Flint Concert Band consists of about 48 players, including people from all walks of life.  We still have one original member playing on a regular basis.  We look forward to at least another 50 years in the Flint area.
